No More Spyware

In this post I will tell you a surefire way to stay Spyware and Ad-ware free. First of all, you need to get away from the evil IE and use Firefox. Firefox is an alternative browser that is free and much safer than Internet Explorer. Second you need to be running a free anti-virus and several free anti-spyware tools regularly. I recommend AVG Ant-Virus for a free ant-virus program. You should run more than one anti-spyware program because one will not catch everything. Here are the programs I use and believe are the most effective: Spybot search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, Microsoft AntiSpyware, and Spyware Blaster. After installing these programs there are a few steps you need to go through. First you need to make sure they they are up-to-date with all the latest definitions. Second you need to immunize with Spybot and Spyware Blaster. Immunization blocks all known exploits that are out there. You also need to turn on the Real Time Protection in Microsoft AntiSpyware. After you have done all of this you just need to keep the software up to date and re-immunize every week or so. You need to run scans every couple days and practice good computer hygiene. Some of the important things in computer hygiene are: not opening attatchments in emails, not clicking links out emails (type in the URL by hand and go there), and just practice safe browsing. It may sound like a lot of trouble, but if you do all of these things then it will prevent your PC from being messed up in the future. Your only other choice is to go buy a Mac or use Linux.
